When And Why Losing Hair Is Normal Reverse Or Slow Balding With Rogaine
No CommentsIf you have male pattern baldness you may be concern about when and why losing hair is normal. Male pattern baldness is a very common variety of men baldness. This variety of baldness is not a symptom of an illness or bad health. The baldness usually starts in the twenties or thirties. It is a type of baldness that everybody sees everyday.
Male pattern baldness is the most common form of baldness for men. This type of baldness ought not be a health issue so it is nothing to really worry about. A genetic predisposition and male hormones are the cause of male pattern baldness. If you have relatives who are bald there is a good chance that you are going to be bald.
Male pattern baldness progresses in a specific way. It will start with the hairline thinning and receding. At the same time a bald spot develops on the crown which is located at the top of the head. The receding hairline keeps progressing until it meets with the bald spot at the crown. At this point a horseshoe pattern takes shape with a bald plate surrounded by hair on the sides of the head.
Some men are comfortable with their bald condition. A man can still be very attractive even if he is bald. Women do not really care if a man is bald. It would take a pretty shallow person to reject somebody for a ridiculous reason like being bald. Still some men really feel insecure about being bald so they seek cures and treatments to either slow down or reverse the condition.
Two drugs can be used to slow down balding and to get the scalp growing again. Minoxidil and Finasteride are these two drugs and they have mixed results. Some men have good results with them and with others are less successful. The only way to know how it will work out is to try them.
Minoxidil or, as it is known by the popular name Rogaine, is applied directly to your scalp. You do not require a doctor’s prescription to buy Rogaine. It can be bought over the counter in most pharmacies or even large grocery stores. Rogaine is most effective on the bald patch at the top of the head. There it can slow down balding or even stimulate the follicles to create new growth. Unfortunately, it has not been found to be very effective with a receding hairline.
Finasteride is sold under the brand names of Proscar and Propecia. This drug is taken as a pill and must be prescribed by a physician. It works by inhibiting the production of the male hormone dihydrotestosterone. Finasteride is not as effective as Minoxidil. Like Minoxidil it works better on the crown than on the receding hairline.
Hair transplants remove hair from one part of the body and places it on the scalp. There have been good results from transplants. It requires multiple session to complete the procedure.
